If you were to list the top five things you hope and pray for, where would good health rank? In the top two or three, or maybe even first?
Health and wellness are age-old concerns, which have become heightened in the increasingly stressful world we live in. While having to cope with demanding daily schedules – whether you work, or stay home, or are studying – eating right, exercising, and tracking your health take a backseat.
It seems easier to order in a burger or pizza than cook a meal of khichdi, or a bowl of soup. And it’s much more tempting to catch some extra winks of sleep each morning, than work out. The truth, though, is that sedentary lifestyles and poor choices are costing Indians their health, and wealth.
A recent study by The Harvard School of Public Health states that economic losses due to non-communicable diseases will be close to $6.2 trillion between 2012-30. These diseases include diabetes, hypertension, heart ailments, cancer and obesity.
As a doctor, family man, friend and concerned citizen, I think that paying attention to wellness should be every Indian’s top priority. This means seeking advice from the most knowledgeable and trustworthy source in order to lead a healthier life. That is the aim of this blog – I will educate, advise, and guide you to create a healthier, happier life.
